A program was initiated to create environment awareness among the coastal people of Kanyakumari District in the year 1998. Till 2000, it was held as an in-house program. But in the year 2001, the program was supported by the Department of Environment, Government of Tamil Nadu and was able to reach out to the whole coastal area of the district. In the year 2003, after a span of 2 years, it reached all over the District. Over a period of 10 years, it has grown and matured. Presently the program is going on with various new interventions across the District.
